Tri-modal Container operations to Portugal
As the result of a special cooperation between the subsidiaries in Grosslehna, Germany and Tarragona, Spain as well as the Container
operations depart at the Heilbronn head office,
SCHMIDT operates a tri-modal traffic originating in the Leipzig, Germany area.
Operations are carried out with 20’ Box Containers (inliner system) through the terminals Leipzig,
Germany – Rotterdam, Netherlands – Leixoes (Porto), Portugal with using a short-sea shipping line from Rotterdam. The final destination of the containers is located in Northern Portugal. Due to a successful beginning, SCHMIDT is
considering extensions of these operations for the near future. Expanded operations will include further routes to the Iberian Peninsula as well as other parts of the Mediterranean area.
