SCHMIDT Group construction news

Antwerp / BASF

Currently, the SCHMIDT Group is setting up a bulk logistics centre on the BASF production site in Antwerp, Belgium. The capacity of this facility will allow SCHMIDT to handle 210,000 tons of BASF bulk granule products yearly. The silo battery comprises 28 units with a volume of 500 m³ each, and is completed already. A warehouse with a capacity of 12,000 m² for storage and bagging purposes will be completed soon. The new SCHMIDT logistics centre is scheduled to begin operations in spring, 2004.


Gersthofen / KOSA

KOSA, one of the leading PET producers, has engaged SCHMIDT with the construction of a silo battery comprising 12 units with a capacity of 350 m³ each on their production site in Gersthofen, Germany. By the storage of products in this silo battery, KOSA intends to reduce transports to external storage facilities (Cologne, Ludwigshafen, Frankfurt). The construction of the silo battery will be completed in November, 2003, whilst the logistics facility is scheduled to begin its operations in spring, 2004. The yearly handling capacity will be about 60,000 tons.
