New silo storage facility in Wesseling near Cologne
The SCHMIDT Group has established a new storage facility with a total of 40 silo units in Wesseling near
Cologne. This increases the total SCHMIDT storage capacity in the Cologne area by 13,600 m³
(ca. 7,000 tons).
In total, the SCHMIDT Group now operates more than
380 silos with a capacity of ca. 80,000 tons in the Cologne chemical industry region.
The new facility is mainly used for the storage of Polypropylene products which, so far, have been transhipped from the production site in Wesseling to the SCHMIDT logistics centre in Cologne-Niehl.
By establishing the new facility directly adjacent to the
production site, the SCHMIDT Group is able to reduce the number of transports through the Cologne city centre by 3,000 per year.
This new SCHMIDT facility can be easily extended with another 50 silo units.
